Exploring the Power of Magnets: A Hands-On Science Experiment

magnets

This week, the students in Mrs. Hunseder's 3rd grade class dove into the fascinating world of magnets with an exciting and interactive Magnet Lab science experiment!

The activity began with a lively class discussion where students shared what they already knew about magnets and learned about the different types of magnets. From there, the young scientists made predictions about which objects would be attracted to a magnet and which wouldn’t.

In small groups, students were given a bag of magnets and a variety of objects to test. Before experimenting, they tallied their guesses for each item, sparking engaging debates and excitement within the groups.

Once predictions were in, the students tested their hypotheses, discovering what magnets can and can’t attract. This hands-on activity not only reinforced critical thinking and problem-solving but also helped students connect scientific concepts to the real world.

The Magnet Lab was a hit, and the students loved working together to uncover the "magic" behind magnets. Way to go, Mrs. Hunseder’s 3rd graders!
