Frequently Asked Questions

The Wildcat Athletic Center

Will all athletes/extra-curriculars be represented in this building?
We have done our best to incorporate as many student athletes and extra-curricular activities as possible in this place. We look forward to seeing creative uses of this flexible space in the future!

What games will be played in the new gymnasium?
At this time, we plan for Junior High Volleyball and Basketball games to be played in the Auxiliary Gym. Other opportunities could arise that call for other levels/competitions to be played in the Auxiliary Gym as well.

How will the Athletic Center be financed?
The District financed the project using a type of loan available to public entities called COPs (Certificate of Participation) financing. That debt will be serviced using the PILOT payments (payments in lieu of taxes) from the South Afton Industrial Park, with no additional tax burden on Williamsburg homeowners or small businesses.

What will be the seating capacity of the bleachers?
There will be approximately 400 seats in the bleachers. The gym at the "Old High School" has an official capacity of 450. It is estimated that the concrete bleachers hold 360-400 people.
