New Elementary School

Update 1/22/2025

When school begins in the fall of 2027, we will have the pleasure of welcoming our Elementary students to a brand new building, which is in the process of being thoughtfully designed to foster a love for learning and growth. Located in the heart of our village, this new facility will provide an enriching environment for the children of our community to lay the foundation for their educational journey.

A Fond Farewell to the Old High School
As part of the transformation, the historic Old High School building will be demolished, with demolition scheduled for the Winter of 2025-2026. While we understand this marks the end of an era, we want to ensure that the community has a chance to say goodbye. Before the building is taken down, there will be several opportunities for people to walk through parts of the building one final time. Details on these events will be shared as soon as they are available in the coming months. We plan to incorporate some pieces of the historic building into the new build where possible. The new building will have a similar classic look on the outside with a modern interior for 21st century learning on the inside.

Preserving the Community Garden
We are also committed to preserving our beloved Community Garden, which will remain on the grounds of the new Elementary School. We are exploring options to relocate the garden to a more prominent location, enhancing its accessibility for students and families. We are working closely with the Garden Club to ensure the relocation is seamless and benefits all involved.

An Exciting New Building
The new Elementary School will offer an array of exciting new features, including:
  • Spacious, modern classrooms designed to support a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
  • A modern Innovation Hub that will serve as a space for creativity, research, and digital literacy.
  • full-size gymnasium, providing ample space for physical education and extracurricular activities.
  • trusted learning environment, continuing Williamsburg Elementary's commitment to excellence in education.
We are dedicated to providing our students with the best possible resources, and this new facility is a testament to our ongoing commitment to their success.

Update: 8/8/2023 -  The Ohio Controlling Board met on August 7th to approve our Classroom Facilities Assistance Program project.  This approval is the final step in the process of having State funds appropriated to co-fund the construction of our new Elementary School.  With the current and projected revenue from PILOT (Payments in Lieu of Taxes) payments from the South Afton Industrial Park, the District anticipates being able to fund the local share of the cost of our new Elementary School without the need to ask the residents of the Williamsburg Local School District for a Bond Levy.

Update: 7/7/2023 -  The OFCC approved our NOCA to move forward with the new Elementary School Project. The next step is to get approved by the State Controlling Board on August 7th. Further updates will be shared after that meeting.

The OFCC will meet in July to consider their approval of the project.

They have chosen Master Plan #2, which is a plan for a complete new build on Main Street. Further information will be provided as the process with OFCC moves forward. See the image below for a rendering of Master Plan #2.

Update: 5/1/2023 - The Williamsburg Local School District has received a Notice of Conditional Approval (NOCA) from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC).  At the May 16th, 2023 Board of Education Meeting, the Board will be voting on a Resolution to approve the NOCA which signifies the District's participation in the OFCC’s Classroom Facilities Assistance program.

Pending approval of our Elementary School Master Plan in July by the OFCC, they will provide co-funding for the project to construct a new Elementary School for the students, staff, and community of Williamsburg. Information on this approval process will continue to be updated on this page.
