WMHS STEM Lab

January 14, 2025

In an exciting move to better serve the diverse interests and needs of students, the Middle/High School is undergoing a significant renovation to create a cutting-edge STEM Lab. The new space will support a wide range of hands-on learning experiences, offering students the opportunity to explore woodworking, construction, culinary arts, engineering, home maintenance/repair, information technology, and Esports.

The STEM Lab will be equipped with an impressive array of tools and technology designed to prepare students for future careers and innovations. Notable additions include a fully-equipped woodworking workshop with a table saw, planer, and lathe, as well as a 4'x4' CNC router with automatic tool change, a 24" x 25" laser cutter, several 3D printers, and a fully-functional kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and range.

Mr. Aaron Stahley, who has already been instrumental in teaching Life Skills and Information Technology, will lead the efforts in the STEM Lab. He will continue his work with students while also coaching the Esports team, fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment. Mr. Stahley is looking forward to the possibilities this new space will bring: "I am super excited about the new STEM lab and am looking forward to the new space and cool tools for the students to create awesome projects. I've always enjoyed so many different aspects of career and tech education whether it has been building computers, framing walls, installing plumbing and electric, or cooking up a roux for a new recipe. This space will allow students to explore many different career fields and build real-life skills along the way. I feel like we've started to build something special here at Williamsburg and this new lab will allow us to take it to the next level."

With its cutting-edge tools and resources, the new STEM Lab promises to open doors to countless possibilities for students, empowering them to explore their passions and develop skills that will serve them well in the future.
